Hot Sauce Roulette:

One of the more dangerous games to play if you’re ready to take on the challenge…
Instead of a standard drinking game with shot glasses of mystery alcohol, replace the alcohol with hot sauces all of different heats!

Place some scotch bonnet chillies in the middle of the wheel… It would be pretty reckless to do a shot of hot sauce so make a platter with some crudities or anything you would like to use as a dipper, when the wheel lands on your dreaded shot, grab whatever your choice of dipper is and get to work! The aim of the game isn’t just to polish off your hot sauce, but to do so without reaching for a drink to cool down…If you reach for a drink, then you’ll be punished by having to eat a scotch bonnet!

Come Dine With Me:

Have you ever seen the cinematic masterpiece that is ‘Come Dine With Me’? get your chef hats on and gather a few friends or colleagues to arrange a series of dinner parties! This can be done over lunchtime or of an evening, whenever works for you and your guests, or if you’re hosting this in an office and simply don’t have time for multiple meals each pick a course including an apertif and post dinner drink so you all get a shot at creating your culinary success!

You will need to create a menu full of ingredients and a sizzling description of your meal to share with your dinner party guests, include a heat rating along with which chilli you have used and maybe a little backstory on where it comes from and what it is usually used for.

Don’t forget to make a score sheet and even some number scorecards if you want to go the full hog and incorporate a prize for the winner! (Maybe some milk to drink after eating all that spice!)

If you get stuck on how to incorporate some spice into your meals, you can always draw inspiration from these reads to get started:

Not a hot sauce aficionado? Well, this day might not be your jam!
Or perhaps you can sprinkle that National Hot Sauce Day energy into revving up a fiery workout or setting yourself a fitness challenge for the week!

Alternatively you could dive into some steamy hot yoga which has a tonne of benefits!

It’s basically the same spicy spirit, right?

Ok, now you’re raring to go lets get into the detail!
Your main starting point is deciding on your location, time and who you would like to invite! Once you have these confirmed, get cracking on the rest by using our checklist for both activities.

Hot Sauce Roulette (How To)

  • You will need a roulette wheel most importantly, you can either make one yourself to keep cost down (How To Make A Recycled Cardboard Spinning Wheel). If you don’t feel like making your own and you’re not a crafty kinda guy then you can buy one online… your last option if this all feels like abit too much faff is to use this digital spinning wheel and customise it to your sauces Wheel Decide.
  • Now you’ve got the wheel, the hot stuff, next up is the shot glasses. You may have a selection of plastic shot cups and some cheesy ones from Magaluf or Bennidorm sitting in your cupboard that would make the perfect vessel for your sauce, if you need to buy some grab these at the shop in the party supply section!
  • Grab your platter items – I would recommend celery (as uninspiring as it is), breadsticks, maybe some chicken dippers or vegetarian alternative! Whilst you’re shopping for snacks, head and pick up some spicy chillies – Scotch bonnets, Green chillies, Carolina Reaper and any others you want to place in the centre as a punishment for anyone that cant finish their shot!
  • Lastly, it would be very very wise to buy some wet wipes to make sure you don’t touch your eyes etc after the chillies and some milk/ natural yoghurt to have on hand for when things take a spicy turn and you need to cool down!

Come Dine With Me (How To)

Ok time to turn your culinary mind on! First things first here is to create your menu, whether you’re creating a full multi course dinner or if you’re splitting courses between your group. You will need to find your recipe and get this down on paper or digitally to share with your guests (Tip, make sure to check any dietaries with your guests beforehand).

  • Food glorious food: Go to the shop and collect all your ingredients required for your meal, this includes anything you think would pair well if you want to go the extra mile – like wine or probably milk to cool your mouth down depending on how spicy your dish is! Make sure you get enough chillies and hot sauce for your dish!
  • Do you have the right materials serve your meal? i.e. if you are doing this at lunch in the office, you may want to get some paper plates, napkins, cutlery and some paper cups – all to minimise your washing up unless your office has a dishwasher you can use!
  • Now time to make your scorecards, it’s up to you on if you want to use a whiteboard, jot it down on paper in a tally system, or do you want to get some card and make your own numbers to hold up just like in the show!

The winner takes it all – Think of something to give to the winner of your dinner party, this could be a really cheesy trophy you can pick up in a local party shop or a bottle of your favourite alcoholic or non alcoholic beverage!
